ASGT

The ASGT is a professional non-profit medical and scientific organization dedicated to the understanding, development and application of gene and related cell and nucleic acid therapies and to promoting professional and public education in the field.

MEETING DATES

The ASGT 9th Annual Meeting will take place May 31 - June 4, 2006 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

ABSTRACT DEADLINE

Abstract deadline for electronic submission: February 13, 2006 at 4:00 pm Eastern.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION PROCESS

ASGT will review all submitted abstracts and select abstracts for either oral or poster sessions. ASGT expects that all abstracts selected for presentation will be presented by the authors and that submitted abstracts will not be withdrawn. All accepted abstracts become the property of ASGT and will be published in Molecular Therapy and on the ASGT website. Please do not submit an abstract if you are not able to travel to the meeting and present it in the form selected by ASGT. Authors of accepted abstracts that do not attend the Annual Meeting jeopardize their presentation selection for future meetings.

ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION

Please go directly to the ASGT website at www.asgt.org for complete instructions to begin the submission process. There is no fee for electronic abstract submissions.

ELIGIBILITY

Both ASGT members and nonmembers are eligible and encouraged to submit abstracts. Submitting an abstract does not register you for the Annual Meeting; you must register for the meeting. Meeting registration is available online at www.asgt.org.

REVIEW PROCESS

Abstracts will be peer-reviewed according to the subject category. Authors must indicate the review category (only one) during the electronic submission process. An abstract category must be selected before an abstract will be reviewed.

TRAINEE TRAVEL GRANTS

ASGT will offer 60 travel grants to Associate Members (postdocs & students). The grants will be based on the highest abstract scores, as determined by the Abstract Review Committee.

The travel grants are worth up to $500 for reimbursement for meeting-related expenses including lodging, travel and meals. To be considered for a grant, please make sure to check one of the two boxes for Trainee Travel Award Consideration. Please Note: Meeting registration fees are non-reimbursable; travel grant recipients must register for the meeting and pay the registration fees.

ABSTRACT CATEGORIES

Go to the ASGT website (http://www.asgt.org/am06/callforabstracts.pdf) to view a PDF with the categories.

LATE-BREAKING ABSTRACTS (NEW in 2006)

ASGT will accept up to three late-breaking abstracts for oral presentation during a special late-breaking session. To be considered for the late-breaking session, the science submitted as a late-breaking abstract must be innovative, of scientific significance, unique and of the highest scientific rigor. Submitted abstracts will be peer reviewed by a special subcommittee appointed by the ASGT Abstract Chair. Authors who have submitted abstracts during the regular submission process may resubmit the abstract as a late-breaking abstract if the author has important new data that was unavailable at the time of submission, making the abstract more novel, of greater importance and significance to the field of gene therapy, and significantly different than the original submitted abstract.

Submission of late-breaking abstracts will be due 5 weeks prior to the 9th Annual Meeting. Because of the lateness of these submissions, the abstracts will not be published in the Abstract Supplement of Molecular Therapy, but will be printed in the Executive Summary booklet. Watch for further information on the ASGT website (www.asgt.org) regarding the late-breaking abstract submission process.
